Liam
Intro
“Mom! It’s no big deal! I went out for a few hours!” I said with a bit of annoyance in my voice.
“A few HOURS?” You were gone the entire night! Where WERE you?” my mom screamed, angrily.
“I WAS WITH A FEW FRIENDS AT THE MALL!!!” I growled back.
“The mall? The nearest mall is TWO hours away! You could’ve been kidnapped! Why didn’t you tell me?” My mother looked mad and upset at the same time.
“I’m fourteen, not a ten-year-old! Can I not do things by myself? I’m practically an adult! Will you just BACK OFF?” I asked wildly.
My mom was silent for a long time. She stared at me with a hurt face. I almost felt bad for her, but at that time I felt a great resentment for my mom.
My mother turned with her back towards me. She hung her head and started to walk out, but then paused.
“I may just be your ‘helicopter mom’, but I care for you. Which is why you’re grounded for a month,” Mom whispered. She started to say something, but then shook her head and walked out.
As I collapsed onto my bed and closed my eyes, I sighed. I had messed up big time. Thinking hard, I felt more resentment toward my mom. She’s just a dumb mom. She can’t tell ME what to do! I’m myself! I’m going to do what I want to do!
Feeling way too confident with myself, I hopped up into my rolly chair. My computer flashed a bright white, then brought me to my Minecraft account. Signing in, I mumbled to myself as I logged into my world. BIG mistake…
A few minutes passed by, as I played. All was fine. I was ONLY going to play for a little bit. Suddenly, I heard footsteps outside my door. Uh oh. Not knowing what else to do, I frantically typed a direct message into the chat.
“I WISH TO LEAVE MY ROOM!”
A strong gust of wind swirled into my room as if on cue! It spun faster and faster around me, then all went black.
Chapter One
I woke up with a retching knot in my gut. With all the strength I had left, I rolled over to see a spiraling portal a few feet away. It was dark purple and black, and it seemed to be shrinking. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no no no no!!! I tried to crawl towards it, but I was too slow. The portal had disappeared. Feeling like a complete failure, I rolled back over and let the scorching desert heat overwhelm my body.
