Horse Writing Prompt

Hi, guys! I created a short story off of a picture of a horse caught in the middle of a fence! This was super fun to write!

Dust billowed up along the dirt road. It followed a crimson red truck that pulled up and abruptly stopped. A man hopped out with a small toolbox. He poked his head inside the little white house near me, then headed towards the barn with the farm hand following. A few minutes passed by, but then the farm hand appeared in my pasture. He roped one of my fellow horse buddies, then led him back to the barn. Uh oh. This only meant one thing. The ferrier had come!

I snorted, then trotted further down the meadow, in hopes of being forgotten by the two men. I HATED the ferrier. He would pull us one by one, prop up our poor little hooves, and get to grooming. Not only was the process boring, but it was uncomfortable.

I spent a long time thinking about my burning resentment towards ferriers, but then realized that there was only one other horse in our giant yard. The ferrier guided the other horse to the barn, leaving me all alone.

This was not good. I would be next. In panic, I started to run, until I came upon the fence. I looked over my shoulder. The two guys were still trimming up the second to last horse, but what was that? No! The farm hand started walking out of the barn to get me! No! This would NOT happen! Not on my horsey watch!

I stared at the fence. It was tall, gray, and with horizontal slats going through it. It was big enough for me to jump through, right? I could make it. The farm hand came closer, and closer. Gathering up my courage I stuck my head through, reared up, and jumped. Big mistake.

I had gotten myself stuck between the wires. I knew that unfortunately, this was the end. I would be brought in to be tortured, my sad hooves trimmed and groomed.
